Psoriasis is a skin condition that causes red, scaly patches to appear on the skin. It can cause physical discomfort, such as itching and burning, and can also have an impact on mental health due to the visible signs of the condition. Both men and women are affected by Psoriasis, although it is more common in men. Psoriasis can affect both children and adults; however, it is most commonly seen in people between the ages of 15-35.

The early symptoms of Psoriasis typically include red patches of skin that are covered with thick, silvery scales. These patches may be itchy or painful, and they can appear on any part of the body. The late stage symptoms of Psoriasis include severe itching, burning sensations in the affected areas, and joint pain. In some cases, the skin may become cracked and bleed. The patches may also spread to other parts of the body such as the scalp or nails.

We can take steps to reduce the risk of developing psoriasis or delay its onset. These steps include avoiding smoking, maintaining a healthy weight, reducing stress levels, and avoiding excessive alcohol consumption. Exercising regularly and staying active on a daily basis may also help to manage psoriasis symptoms by reducing inflammation and improving overall health.

Certain nutrient deficiencies can cause Psoriasis, such as deficiencies in Vitamin D, Omega-3 fatty acids, and zinc. To help with Psoriasis symptoms, it is important to include foods that are rich in these nutrients in our diet. Foods that are high in Vitamin D include fatty fish such as salmon and tuna, fortified milk and orange juice, egg yolks, and mushrooms. Foods that contain Omega-3 fatty acids include flaxseed oil, walnuts, chia seeds, soybeans and tofu. Zinc can be found in foods like oysters, beef liver or kidney meat, pumpkin seeds or squash seeds.

Health supplements such as Biotin, Vitamin C and Vitamin E can be beneficial for people with psoriasis. Biotin helps to reduce inflammation associated with psoriasis, while also helping to restore the skin's natural barrier. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps to protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals and environmental stressors. Finally, Vitamin E has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce redness and irritation associated with psoriasis. All three of these vitamins have been shown to be beneficial in treating psoriasis symptoms when taken in combination or on their own.
